Sheephead Mountain - San Diego, California

Sheephead Mountain trail is a fun trail if you like hill climbs because that is all it is. For 100% of the trail you are going up! It is an out and back trail so once you’re at the top you do turn back around and the trail becomes on big decent. I love hill climbs so I enjoyed it. I would mark this a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. Any stock high clearance 4x4 should be able to do this without issue. On this trail you’ll have great views of the mountains in the area and increase elevation pretty quickly. Since it’s so close to the freeway it does take away from the freedom and isolation feeling you usually get from a 4x4 trail but it’s still fun. At the top of the mountain there is big flat area to park and hang out for a while and enjoy the views.
